Undergrad Education Endorsements
ESL Endorsement
The English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement prepares candidates to teach emergent bilingual students in an ESL program. Candidates do not need to be multilingual for this endorsement. The endorsement attaches to a teaching license at the grade level of the license. No tests are required for this endorsement. Candidates will gain 100 hours of field experience in this endorsement; teachers who have taught on a valid license for three months in a classroom including English Learners will be granted a waiver for these field hours. Undergraduates will earn the endorsement as well as a minor in ESL.
Bilingual Education Endorsement
The Bilingual Education endorsement prepares candidates to teach emergent bilingual students in bilingual education, dual language, and two-way-immersion (TWI) programs. The endorsement attaches to a teaching license at the grade level of the license. Candidates need to pass a state language proficiency test in one or more world languages for this endorsement. Candidates will gain 100 hours of field experience in this endorsement; teachers who have taught on a valid license for three months in a classroom including English Learners will be granted a waiver for these field hours. Undergraduates will earn the endorsement as well as a minor in Bilingual Education.
